KEMALISM: OUR TORCH!
Kemalism, or Atatürkism, is the ideology that defends the revolutions carried out by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the Great Leader, and our Savior, and aims to advance the Turkish People’s Revolutions based on contemporary life further.
During the Turkish War of Independence, the national independence fighters led by Mustafa Kemal Pasha were called ‘Kemalists’ by the Istanbul Government, which had become an apparatus of the imperial powers of the time. This is precisely how we define ourselves. We are ‘Kemalists,’ advocating for complete independence and the freedom of the Turkish people.
As the Atatürkist Youth Club of Kadir Has University, we aim to defend the Founding Will that has allowed us to live and receive education freely and with our own identity, from the cradle of our upbringing to the desks at university campuses. We embrace the Atatürk Principles, the basis and indicator of the Turkish People’s Revolution realized by Mustafa Kemal, and strive to keep these values alive in our university life.
We are Republicans! We are nationalists! We are populists! We are secularists! We are statists! We are reformists!
The Atatürkist Youth Club of Kadir Has University is the club of the children of the Turkish people who defend Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s legacy and strive to keep it alive on the campus where they are educated.
The following words addressed to us by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in his Bursa Speech are our compass in our struggle:
“Turkish youth, you are the owner and guardian of the revolutions and the republic! You have embraced the form of government and the revolutions. If you hear the slightest movement or behavior that will weaken them, do not say, ‘This country has its police, its gendarmerie, its army, and its justice system.’ You will protect your own creation with whatever you have—with hands, stones, sticks, or weapons!”
