A Season Filled with Excitement, Dramas, and Surprises

The 2023-2024 Premier League season witnessed numerous exciting and dramatic events. Manchester City finished the season with 91 points, securing their fourth consecutive and 10th overall championship. Arsenal followed closely in second place with 89 points, while Liverpool finished third with 82 points. Other notable teams this season were Aston Villa, Tottenham, and Chelsea, who trailed the top three.

Throughout the season, many managerial changes took place. Sheffield United, due to poor results, sacked 46-year-old English manager Paul Heckingbottom and appointed Chris Wilder. Nottingham Forest replaced Steve Cooper with Nuno Espírito Santo. At Liverpool, Jürgen Klopp announced his departure at the end of the season, completing the season before handing over the managerial position to Arne Slot.

Among the standout events was the points deduction imposed on Everton. In November 2023, Everton was penalized 10 points for breaching profit and sustainability rules. Despite an appeal that reduced the penalty to 6 points, they received an additional 2-point deduction at the end of the season, totaling an 8-point penalty.

Sheffield United conceded the most goals throughout the season, with 104 goals, marking one of the worst defensive performances in Premier League history, and finished with only 16 points. Burnley, with 24 points, and Luton, with 26 points, were the other teams relegated at the end of the season.

Erling Haaland emerged as the top scorer with 27 goals, while Ollie Watkins not only helped Aston Villa secure a Champions League spot with his 19 goals but also led the Premier League in assists with 13.

The events and results of this season once again demonstrated that the Premier League is always full of surprises and highly competitive.
